A restored floor of a quiet residential building in central Lecce, a short walk from the baroque old town and its evening passeggiata. Three suites open off a single landing, each with its own bathroom finished in marble-effect stone, warm white against deep ocean green. Behind double glazing the rooms stay cool and still through the afternoon; a lift and a step-free entrance reach every door, so arrival is easy at any age. The largest suite opens onto a private balcony; another onto a wide terrace of its own. Air conditioning, Wi-Fi and key-card access come as standard, with free parking a few steps away. There is no kitchen and nothing to keep: cafés, wine bars and restaurants begin at the corner, and the piazze of Lecce are minutes on foot.
Seaside Apartment in Rivabella, Gallipoli

A whole apartment on the second floor above the shore at Rivabella, reached by its own stair, two minutes on foot from a small Ionian beach on the edge of Gallipoli. The living room gathers around a round dining table, with a sofa, a television and a corner for coffee; from its balcony, the sea. Two bedrooms follow, Alba and Marea, each with a balcony of its own and air conditioning, sleeping up to four in all. The bathroom is lined in soft travertine-effect stone, with a walk-in shower and warm towels. Mornings begin unhurried, with an espresso before the town wakes and the beach fills. A private parking space is yours, with more across the road, and you let yourself in with a personal code. The apartment is held for one party at a time; the port and the old town of Gallipoli are close.

The Suites in a Large House near Porta San Biagio

A short walk away, beside the old city gate of Porta San Biagio, a larger house is being finished in the same spirit. Two hundred square metres hold five suites, each with its own bathroom in the same marble-effect stone, arranged for families and small groups who want to stay together yet apart. A lift serves the floors, and the historic centre of Lecce is minutes on foot through one of its most beautiful gateways.
